MY CHILDHOOD
The story

Why I made this

Since I was a kid, I wanted to play a game inspired by the Back to the Future trilogy.

I used to make my own DeLorean time machines at home with whatever I had, and I played with them all the time. The game I had in my head never came out, so I decided to make it myself.

I started it for fun, just for me. Once I could drive the DeLorean around the Twin Pines Mall parking lot, I wanted other fans to play it too.

I'm a fan, and this game is my tribute to everyone who loves Back to the Future.

The beta

Twin Pines Mall, 1:20 AM

The first stage is based on the Twin Pines Mall scene from the first movie.

The Libyans show up in their van and chase you around the parking lot. Pick up the plutonium, stay away from the van and get the DeLorean to 88 mph.

10

Collect plutonium

There are 10 canisters on the lot. You need all of them to make the jump.

00

Avoid the van

The Libyans ram you and shoot at you. Every hit costs you fuel.

88

Hit 88 mph

Keep the speed up long enough and the DeLorean jumps through time.

What's next. This is a beta. I want to add more maps so you can drive the DeLorean in other places from the trilogy, and maybe add some of its characters.

How it got here

The game changed a lot along the way. In each image, the small frames are older versions from the project's history and the big one is the current version.

Play

Play in your browser

There's nothing to download or install. The game runs in your web browser and uses your device's graphics hardware, so how it looks and runs depends on your computer.

Recommended

Google Chrome

We recommend Chrome. It handles the game's 3D graphics better than other browsers, so it runs smoother.

Best on

A computer

The game is made for a computer with a keyboard. With a better graphics card you can turn up the quality settings.

Also available

Phone version

There's a phone version. The game wasn't designed for phones, but you can still try it.

Help me build the next map

The game is free and will stay free, with no ads.

I make Outatime Lab on my own, in my free time. Since I started a month ago I've put more than 200 hours into it, and every new map will add many more.

If you enjoyed the game and want to drive the DeLorean somewhere else from the trilogy, you can help with a donation. It pays for the time I put into new maps.

Donating is optional and doesn't unlock anything in the game. Everyone plays the same game, for free.
